Puncky P. Heppner to deliver Martin F. Fritz lecture
The annual Martin F. Fritz lecture will be on March 3rd, 2006 at 11:00 AM in Kildee 1204. The title of the lecture is "Twenty five years of Empirical Problem Solving Research: From Stages to Dimensions to Worldviews."
The presenter is Dr. Puncky P. Heppner, an outstanding scholar who was the past President of Division 17 (Counseling Psychology) of the American Psychological Association and is currently Professor of Education, Clinical Professor of Nursing, and Co-director of the Center For Multicultural Research, Training and Consultation at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
A senior research scholar, Dr. Heppner has authored 105 refereed journal articles, five senior-authored books, and 14 book chapters. He is co-principal investigator on a 1.2 million dollar NIH cancer grant focused on the psychosocial aspects of Lymphedema.
His books respectively on research methods in counseling (1992) and research design in counseling (1999) are gold standard texts for doctoral students and instructors in the field of counseling psychology. Moreover, a longitudinal (1973-1998) content analysis of published research in the Journal of Counseling Psychology, the top tier American Psychological Association journal in the area of counseling psychology, ranked Puncky Heppner as number one of the top twenty contributors to the journal over the 26 years encompassed by the content analysis (Buboltz, W. C., Miller, M., & Williams, D. J., 1999).
