Dr. Nathaniel Wade was the recipient of the American Psychological Foundation (APF) Division 17 2012 Counseling Psychology Grant.

Dr. David Vogel was the recipient of the American Psychological Foundation (APF) 2012 Visionary Fund Grant.

Dr Douglas Gentile was named one of The 300 Best Professors in the Country, by the Princeton Review and RateMyProfessors.com. The professors are not ranked in the book, but the Huffington Post's analysis declares Dr. Gentile, an associate professor of psychology, No. 1.  Huffington Post Article.

2011

Dr. Patrick Armstrong received the Early Career Professional Award from the Society for Vocational Psychology, Division of Counseling Psychology, American Psychological Association.

Dr. David Vogel received Fellow status in the American Psychological Association, Division 17 (Counseling Psychology).

2010

Dr. David Vogel received the 2010 Fritz and Linn Kider Early Career Scientist/Practitioner Award.

Dr. Doug Gentile has received the 2010 Distinguished Scientific Contributions to Media Psychology award given by Division 46 (Media Psychology) of the American Psychological Association.

ISU alumnus, Dr. Patrick Rottinghaus has been chosen to receive the Early Career Professional Award from the Society for Vocational Psychology, a Section of the Division of Counseling Psychology of the American Psychological Association (APA).  This prestigious award recognizes substantial commitment and contribution to the field of career and vocational psychology.  Dr. Rottinghaus earned his doctorate in counseling psychology at ISU in 2004 then joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University.

Dr. Stephen Gilbert received the Award for Outstanding Service to the Boeing Ground Forces Training Team at the Ft. Leonard Wood Integrated Immersive Training Environment.

2009 

Simulation & Gaming names the 50 Most Frequently Read Articles. Article by three Iowa State University researchers is Number 1.

The web site for the scientific journal Simulation & Gaming reports that an article authored by 3 ISU researchers was the most frequently read article on their site in October, 2009.

Iowa State University graduate student Christopher Barlett was the lead author on the article, titled "Video Game Effects - Confirmed, Suspected, and Speculative: A Review of the Evidence." Dr. Craig A. Anderson, Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Director of the Center for the Study of Violence, as well as ISU graduate student Edward Swing were co-authors. All are in the Department of Psychology.

Dr. David Vogel was named Fellow in the American Psychological Association Division 51 (men and Masculinity).

Dr. Craig Anderson, faculty member in the Department of Psychology has been named one of three APA 2010 Distinguished Scientist Lecturers. Dr. Anderson will be giving the address at the New England Psychological Association meeting in October, 2010.
