Psych Career Info

A career using a psychology background may be created in almost any area involving the needs and interactions of people.  ISU graduates have obtained employment in a variety of positions such as:

  • paraprofessionals in hospitals and clinics
  • counselors in federal, state, and local mental health, correctional, recreation, rehabilitation,
      and social service agencies
  • industrial selection and training personnel industrial relations
  • sales and advertising representatives
  • technical writers/reporters
  • research assistants
  • general managerial positions

39% of ISU graduates are in graduate school for psychology or related fields

23% of ISU graduates are working in the field of psychology or related fields

17% of ISU graduates are working in other fields.

Many students combine their psychology degree with another major (26%) or a minor (56%).  These students often complete courses in the following fields:
