Family and Community Health Study (FACHS)
This study includes a panel
of 900 African American families, each with a target child who was age 10 at
Wave 1; we are about to begin analyzing the 4th wave of data collection. We are
looking at socio-psychological factors related to their health behavior,
including behaviors that are health-promoting (e.g., nutrition, exercise) and
health-impairing (e.g., risky sexual behavior, and alcohol, drug and tobacco
use). Our focus is on the impact of racial discrimination on health behaviors. We are also examining the impact of ethnic
identification, segregation, and parental, friend, and sibling influences on
health.
