Broadly construed, my research concerns how people perceive their futures, their worth, and their place in the social context, and how personality factors shape such perceptions. Given that such appraisals have many important psychological and behavioral consequences, understanding processes underlying their formation is critical. I'm particularly interested (1) in how various motivations (e.g., desires to be liked) interface with cognitive processes to shape social judgments, and (2) in the social comparison mechanisms underlying social-cognitive and personality processes.
